House Painting Tips, Tools And Supplies
While house painting is no easy job for the inexperienced, the task can be achieved fairly easy once a bit of know-how is gained. Of course, it also helps to use the proper tools and supplies. For some, choosing the "right" color to paint their homes is the hardest step in the entire process. Nonetheless, keep in mind that even the most basic color cannot be painted properly without using the right painting tools and supplies. Some of the most common house painting tools used at the moment are airless sprayers, paint rollers and paintbrushes, but what you need to work with largely depends on the type of painting job.
Without a doubt, paintbrushes are the most commonly used painting tools on the market. Paintbrushes come in two types: synthetic bristle brushes and all-natural bristle brushes. The first type is made using nylon and the latter using animal locks. Up until recently, it was widely considered that all-natural bristle brushes were the best kind of paintbrush to use regardless of the painting project; however, the quality of the synthetic bristle brushes has improved quite a lot over the years and are now considered just as good. Paintbrushes also come in a wide array of dimensions, some of the most common sizes including ¼ in, ½ in, 1 in, 2 in and 4 in.
Another commonly used house painting tool is the froth brush, which can be used to apply paint faster. Froth brushes are made using urethane foam and also come with a cloth or sponge attached. There are a lot more dimensions available for sale out there than the ones listed in this article -- there's virtually one for every hard-to-reach place and part. Keep in mind that it's very important to choose the right size brush if you want to reduce the time it takes to paint your house. For example, if you use a paint roller over flat materials, it's highly likely that you'll cut the time needed to finish the job in half.
It's best to use paint rollers for painting large, simple areas and paintbrushes for painting around doors, windows, etc. Paint rollers also come in a wide array of dimensions, the most commonly used one being 9 inches. Most paint rollers consist of two parts: the "roller cover" and the "roller frame" (the roller cover attaches to the roller frame, which is used to absorb paint and apply it to a surface). Again, keep in mind that the type and dimension of the paint roller you need to use largely depends on the type of project you are working on. Paint rollers are also excellent for texture painting.
The airless spray gun is often the best painting tool to work with because (1) it's a great time-saver,(2) it can apply paint to just about any type of surface you can imagine and (3) it penetrates better into crevices and pits. Airless spray guns can also be dangerous, however, and can cause serious injuries. When using them, it's important to take the necessary safety measures and precautions. Airless spray guns are powered by various types of motors, such as hydraulic, pneumatic (compressed air) or lectric. Most airless spray guns also come with a paint pump, or a "lower" as it's also called.
